Mold Remediation

Mold spores can be found in both indoor and outdoor air. Certain conditions will encourage the growth and reproduction of mold and may produce adverse health effects including headaches, respiratory problems, skin irritation, or allergic reactions.

Mold and mold spores cannot be completely eliminated from the indoor environment, however; mold growth can be controlled by maintaining proper moisture conditions and by completing scheduled cleaning and maintenance activities. Mold contaminated materials typically include drywall, wall paper, carpeting, floor joists, and ceiling materials. The contamination may be visible or hidden within walls or under crawl spaces. If excessive mold growth is identified in a building, the visible mold should be cleaned up and removed and the moisture source needs to be eliminated.

OCW Environmental maintains trained professionals and equipment to complete mold remediation projects in any environment. Our certified staff will follow the procedures and methodology as presented in the Standard for Professional Mold Remediation S520 prepared by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). A typical mold remediation project completed by OCW Environmental may include:

  • Set up of polyethylene containment barrier & negative pressure
  • Cleaning of all contaminated surface areas and use of HEPA-filtered vacuum
  • Removal and disposal of contaminated material in 6-mil polyethylene sheeting
  • Application of anti-fungal biocide
  • Treatment of the HVAC system if needed
  • Restoration of building materials to original condition
